Preview: Daft Punk’s ‘Tron’ Soundtrack

Some of the tunes Daft Punk have done for the new Tron movie, Tron Legacy, have surfaced online. A listen over at Hypetrak reveals them to be very soundtracky and not very Daft Punk at all. In fact, if BRR is not mistaken, there’s some respectful homage to the classic synth soundtracks of Vangelis and Giorgio Moroder going on there. When TL hits multiplexes in December die-hard Punk fans can probably leave their glow-sticks at home.

In other Tron news, the Guardian reports that Brit actor Michael Sheen plays a baddie in the film, in a role inspired by David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust. I now can’t get rid of the disturbing image of Tony Blair playing his infamous guitar in drag.

Update: there’s been a ton of chat about fake versions of Daft Punk tunes from the film — best head over to the official site for a reasonable chance of getting the real deal (though if I’m not mistaken the ones on Hypetrak we originally posted above are the same and you get longer cuts).
