ACTIVISION // TIESTO
Activision has teamed up Dutch cheesemaster Tiesto to promote the forthcoming DJ Hero 2 game. The way they’ve chosen to engage us electronic music fans is by producing a music video for Speed Rails, made up entirely of in-game footage. Needless to say, it’s really really horrible.
They could have had some fun with it, having some real-footage a real life Tiesto trying to keep up with the in-game Tiesto, or Tiesto pretending to play to thousands using the game controller instead of his decks. Or even made one of those fancy interactive YouTube videos, where you have to press buttons to help complete the song…
It’s got 37k views in two days though, so in reality – a good ploy by Activision.
It’s not as good as this recent video from Diplo, which also uses video-game imagery as it’s creative inspiration (although isn’t trying to promote a game)
